Our classrooms are bright and cheerful to promote a happy learning environment. We have lots of resources all around us to help us with our learning and independence.
We are lucky enough to have an interactive whiteboard in each classroom, as well as access to 30 laptops and 15 iPads; we like to use Computing to support our learning across the curriculum when we can. We have wonderful displays linked to our current topic; alongside working walls, which show our current learning in Maths and English. Come and have a look at our work.
We come into class in the morning at 8.25, ready for the register. Our learning starts at 8.30 promptly. Playtime is at 11.00 and lunch is from 12.20 to 1.20pm. The school day finishes at 3.00pm.
We have Maths and English lessons every day before playtime. We now have separate spelling and grammar lessons four times a week, in addition to our normal English lessons.
In maths we follow the White Rose and Maths Shed schemes. More about this and other aspects of the school curriculum can be found on the curriculum pages in the main menu, as well as the Year 4 Information for Parents page. Each child has online access to Times Tables Rockstars website, where they can practise their times tables skills, rank up and earn times tables coins, in a fun environment.
Each Monday, we do Guided Reading to enhance our reading skills.
PE is on Tuesday and Wednesday, but it's always helpful to keep your kit in school in case there are any extra sessions.
Every Friday is the awards assembly where families are invited to see their child win an award. Parent/carers will be notified of this via the weekly school newsletter and text message (please make sure your contact details are always kept up to date.)
Things To Remember
PE lessons are every Tuesday and Wednesday - please bring PE kits on the first day of term and leave it in school for the whole half term, as we do extra lessons some weeks. PE kit is a blue Hodge Clough t-shirt, black shorts and trainers (no studs).
Spelling test is every Friday. Spellings for each week of the half term are sent home at the start of each half term. In the last week of half term, we do a 'Grand Spell', covering 50 of the spellings the children have been learning during the half term. This is marked and given back to the children before the holiday, so they can revise and practise the spellings for another spelling test the first week back.
Times tables tests are also every Friday.
Bring money for Snack Trolley and milk on Mondays if you want to buy them- £1.25 each.
