We come into class in the morning at 8.25am, ready for the register. Our learning starts at 8.30am promptly. Playtime is at 11.00am and lunch is from 12.20pm to 1.20pm. The school day finishes at 3.00pm.
We have Maths and English lessons every day before playtime. We have separate spelling and grammar lessons during the week, and we practice letter formation and joining our handwriting every day after lunch. After breaktime, we do D.E.A.R - Drop Everything And Read lessons for 15 minutes each day.
In maths, we follow the White Rose and Maths Shed schemes. More about this and other aspects of the school curriculum can be found on the curriculum pages in the main menu, as well as the Year 3 Information for Parents page. Each child has online access to both the Times Tables Rockstars website, and the Bug Club website, where they can practise their times tables and reading skills, rank up and earn times tables and reading coins, in a fun environment. We have recently purchased MathShed which the children may access from home to consolidate their maths skills in a fun way.
Each Monday, we do Reading Comprehension activities to enhance our reading skills.
PE is on Tuesday and Wednesday, but it's always helpful to keep your kit in school in case there are any extra sessions.
Every Friday is the awards assembly where families are invited to see their child win an award. Parent/carers will be notified of this via the weekly school newsletter and text message (please make sure your contact details are always kept up to date.)

Spelling tests and times tables tests are each Friday and the spellings for the half term are given out at the start of each half term. A copy of the spelling sheet for each half term is available below.
READING: Children are expected to read at least three times a week at home and this must be verified by an adult's signature in their child's organiser. Organisers must be in school each day and will be checked each Wednesday or Thursday. Children who do not have their organiser signed will not be given a Reading Stars sticker to put on their chart. We would like the children to try to read all of their book each week, so that reading books may be changed every week. The children enjoy choosing their own book to read.
