British Science Week
During British Science Week we had lots of fun investigations going on around school. We started the week with a science show where we watched science in action! Each year group carried out their own investigations from planting cress to creating their own water cycle. To help get into the spirit of Science Week we even had a day dressing as a mad scientist! We ended the week with a whole school rocket challenge!
In support of Comic Relief we held our very own Comedy Choral Carnival. Each year group performed a funny poem during two performances for family and friends (thank you for your kind donations). We filmed the children performing and DVD’s were sold and all profits went to Comic Relief. We even made it on the TV, did you see us on BBC North West tonight? We raised an amazing £947.83!
Poetry Visit from Dommy B
Children from Year 1 to 3 enjoyed working alongside the author Dommy B. We were lucky enough to hear Dommy B perform poems from his book ‘Spark the Goblin Wizard,’ it was very funny!
The children also had the opportunity to work with Dommy B creating their very own poem which the children performed at our Comedy Coral Carnival in aid of Comic Relief.
Best of British
In January we held a special PSHE day themed "The Best Of British". During the day the children learnt about the importance of the five British values that we embed through our school curriculum. The children were taught a poem to help them remember the meaning and importance of each value and completed activities based around each value in their classes. During the day the children learnt a song called ‘Who put the Great in Great Britain?’ and took part in a whole school art challenge! You can see the winning art work in the school foyer. We were even treated to traditional British cuisine by our talented kitchen staff!
