Science National Curriculum


3 Main Aims:


develop scientific knowledge and conceptual understanding through the specific disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics
develop understanding of the nature, processes and methods of science through different types of science
enquiries that help them to answer scientific questions about the world around them
•children are equipped with the scientific knowledge required to understand the uses and implications of science, today and for the future
Science at our school
In Science we learn lots of interesting facts about animals, humans, plants, electricity, sound, space and many more. See the overview below to find out what your child will be learning about this year!
A lot of science is taught through the five different types of enquiry. These are:
  • Observations
  • Pattern seeking
  • Identifying, classifying and grouping
  • Comparative and fair testing 
  • Research using secondary sources

Science activities throughout the year


8th - 12th March 2021 - Science week

During this week we will take part in a range of activities including a whole school challenge, science workshops/show, a 'dress as a scientist' day and a home quiz/activity.
